Social Events at ISHF 2025

Dublin Story Slam

Wednesday 4th: 11:15 & 14:15

ISHF and The Dublin Story Slam are working together for ISHF Dublin 2025. The theme of our festival is storytelling so what better way to do this than by working with The Dublin Story Slam. Delegates will be able to take part in storytelling workshops in the CCD and will then be invited to unwind after a long day of talks, with plenty of laughter, craic and conversation while experiencing first-hand the real power of storytelling in a City that's World renowned for its storytellers.

Why Storytelling?

For a lot of speakers, connecting with your audience is one of the biggest challenges you face on the day. Apart from trying to distill down mountains of research, analysis and data into a ten minute talk, speakers can also struggle to deliver content that's authentic, impactful and helps them stand out, from an often very crowded stage.

While traditional presentations and talks are excellent for informing audiences what needs to be done to solve a problem, stories convince them.  The right story told to the right audience in the right way, can deliver practical and effective tools that don't just inspire an audience to reflect on a problem but actively empower them to deliver the right solution.

The Dublin Story Slam has been helping Dubliners share their own stories at our open mic storytelling nights for the last 8 years. We've brought the power of authentic storytelling into the office, the boardroom and all kinds of conferences and industry events. We've taught speakers how to harness the power of their own professional and personal experiences, to help drive real change and we are delighted to be working with the ISHF to present two storytelling workshops on Wednesday June 4th.

How can delegates get involved?

Simple register and attend a workshop on Wednesday 4th June (spaces are limited). Whether you are a first-time speaker or a seasoned veteran, we'll teach you how to find, develop and deliver a story that can be told standalone or as part of a longer talk. We'll show you how to distill down information into meaning and share a simple but powerful storytelling structure that is as easy for you to deliver, as it is for your audience to follow.

After the daytime Workshops, delegates will also be invited to share their stories at a very special themed Story Slam hosted later that evening, where you also sit back and enjoy the craic!
